These are ‘gold’en moments

Gold ends with an historical high of 28,150 INR per ten gram this week in Indian market, and seems to be continues with rising trend in future days. This is the first time in the history of Indian market that gold crosses 28,000 cross mark. If we see the trend, it looks likely to cross 30,000 INR/10 grams in near future.
There may be many reasons for this price rise such as stock market fall across the globe, heavy purchasing by banks, marriage seasons ahead, festival season, but, investment on this precious metal is becoming the first priority among investors. Volatility in share market, and weak economic outlook points finger towards the gold as the traditional safe haven for savings.
Gold is the most popular among all metals in Indians, and people here believe that gold is a safe assets against any economic, political, social, or fiat currency crises. Even at the time of global recession, the investment on gold had generally given good returns which justify their belief. As a result, days goes on investment on gold is becoming more lucrative.
As technology improves, there are many alternative options available for gold investment. If physical asset seems to be heavy, then investor may go for blue-chip gold shares which are the logical alternative. Digital gold currency and e-gold are also increasingly popular. For DGC, investors need not comply with specific financial regulations as providers are not the banks, and generally they operate under self-regulation. Gold mutual funds are also helpful alternatives.

Gender disparity affecting Havyak grooms

Havyak grooms are now desperately looking for brides as the community’s people are facing severe scarcity of girls, which affects especially the boys, those who are looking for life partners the most. Gender disparity is becoming a social problem for the community, and the community boys are facing the heat severely. As a result, many youths those who have already crossed their marriage age did not get the life partner, and continued their bachelor life.
Who are havyaks?
Havyaks belongs to small community in Brahmin caste of Hindu religion, and the community’s people are living largely in parts of North Canara, South Canara, Udupi, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Dharwad, Belgaum, and Haveri districts of Karnataka, a southern state of India. Now, some of them were migrated to metropolitan cities like Bangalore, Bombay, Delhi, and some are in countries like United States of America, United Kingdom and other places outside India. They are estimated to be around one lakh in population. They themselves considered as upper caste in Brahmin fraternity, and practice their own custom and rituals.
Earlier community people primarily engaged in agricultural activities, while some practiced Vedic professions and worked as priests in Hindu temples. But, now they were entering into other professions like business, education, and employment. Most of them are now working as software professionals, lawyers, doctors, and journalists.

Just ten years back:
Around ten years back, position of community girls, especially those who were in the threshold of marriage was miserable. Dowry was the biggest problem then. Most of the girls could not get life partners just because their parents were not in a position to paid dowry demanded by grooms. Adding, girls those who borned in poor families as well as those who have black color faced the heat most. That was the time of grooms.
As the situation turned to worsen, parents started to hate females. Parents looked to have their own male child, and took doctor's help for foeticide whenever they found foetus is female child. They took cost into consideration whenever they had to their own child, and preferred male child, as girls command more cost than boys as their requirements are more. Adding, Parents thought that male child would helps to lead their next generation, and would have the responsibility to fulfill their requirements in their future life. Because, girls goes to their husband's house, and become husband's family members. As a result, female foeticide witnessed increasing trend which later led to the decreasing number of female child.
But, now the situation is just opposite. Girls are in the driver’s seat, and the boys are in the receiving end. Due to shortage of girls, their demand is also high which burden most on boys. Grooms are suffering most, especially those who are not commanding high salary jobs, and those who are staying in village while looking after agricultural activities. Brides are crossing their limit in demands, as they are demanding grooms with high salary, good looking, and inhabitants of metropolitan cities such as Bangalore, and other foreign countries, and these demands cause a major bottleneck for them.

Finally, Bangane gets suspension bridge

Now the people of Bangane village of Kumta taluk are reason to cheer, thanks to the people representatives and officials of the taluk who fulfilled their long cherished dream of having a bridge to cross the Aghanashini River. Earlier, the people of Bangane village were facing severe threat to their life, especially during rainy seasons as they have had to cross the river to approach Kumta town, which is the main market place for them. Now, suspension bridge was constructed across the river which facilitated their easy movement with other side of the river.

Bangane is a remote village in Kumta taluk of Karnataka, a southern state of India, and most of the residents depend on agriculture for their livelihood. But, they have had to wade through the river water which posed danger for their lives, especially for children and women. In rainy season they used 'teppa', a temporary boat constructed by banana tree which is virtually a dangerous task, for crossing the river.
Foundation stone was laid ten years back itself and pillar was installed on both sides of the river. Then Madan nayak, a local leader who dreamt about the bridge took initiation for the construction of bridge, invested lakhs of rupees in his pocket, as well as collected donations from the public for the cause. But, due to over cost construction work was halted in the midway.
In 2004, bridge was constructed at Santheguli, on Nilkunda road across Aghanashini river, but people had have to cover 10 k.m. distance to reach Santheguli from Bangane, which is at the other side of the river bank, and just a throw away distance from Santheguli, which enhanced the necessity of the suspension bridge for the locals. Locals put pressure on people representatives for the early competition of construction work. Local leaders, officials joined hands with the people, and Malnad development board, Shimogga sanctioned grants for the same.
200 meter long suspension bridge is said to be the biggest bridge in the coastal areas of the district, and has been constructed to suit their lifestyle which is now ready for usage. Bridge is very strong and even one can ride the bike on it, and children can ply over very safely. Now it is turn out be a beautiful tourist spot of the region, and is attracting tourists across the district. It is situated nearly 9 kms from Santheguli on the Kumta-Siddapur road.

Internet tract, terrorists new tact

Cyber terrorism is increasing in recent times all over the world as terrorists are turning to internet to share know-how on hacking into websites, bomb-making and use of fire-arms. A recent study conducted by Singaporean and Australian researchers revealed this fact. Trend is more in Southeast Asia region.
Study noted a hike in the use of internet by the terrorists, as they find it hard to operate in the open. Extremists usually used to work in relative isolation. But, cyber-terrorism becomes a credible alternative for them. They are using it to celebrate online terrorist victories and sharing information on technology and spread materials to their followers. They also use this route to get sympathizers, who are also making use of social networking sites and strengthening their network. They are using cyber route to express their views with exclusive speeches while posting news reports, articles, videos and pictures.
The number of sites operated by the radicals, extremists and their sympathizers has increased drastically. At the same time cases of individuals who posted their propaganda also increased. Regional governments and law enforcement agencies have done little to stop the rise of online radicalization. Some governments don't want to appear undemocratic by seeming to rein in freedom of expressions in cyberspace.
For extremists, it is an easy way to reach target persons to propagate their ideas. They were also using internet to raise fund and recruit like-minded people to spread terrorist propaganda. Because of its wide network, publishing a web page is an excellent way for any organization or an individual to reach target people. Messages could be sending very easily and quickly through e-mail, which could be reaching within a fraction of second to a person wherever he will be.
Usually terrorists target critical infrastructure such as water, power and transportation, key installations like defense, industries, information centers, and government departments for their attack. It is very easy to gather information about these, as the detailed information is available in the internet. They could collect relevant information to sketch a plan to attack them. Masterminds of the terrorist attacks are stored detailed information about the targeting objects and internet makes their works easy.
According to some sources, extremists were recruiting skilled hackers to cripple rival groups' economy and attack their critical infrastructure as part of a terrorist plot. For them internet may be the media. Besides, there are many instances of attack on websites by sending viruses to destroy important files and data of their rivals.
They are also using internet for trading to collect fund. Drug trade is such an example. According to sources drug trade now represents about seven per cent of world trade and is the main source of income for terrorist activities.
Moreover, the internet could allow attackers to remain anonymous, to strike at multiple targets from a distance, and escape detection. In the future cyber terrorism may become a viable option to traditional physical acts of violence.
